Nixons presence on America!

Richard Nixon was probably the most controversial president that the United States ever had in office; many people believe that he was a bad president because of his shady antics, including the watergate scandal, but i personally believe that people did not give him enough credit and he was a good president.
-----> 1.)  Nixon's foreign Policy work - Nixon was the 1st U.S president to have true interactions with China and be the first president to step on Chinese soil.  While in China, he met with leader Mao Zedong and opened trade with the country. Looking back on this now and the current market that the United states has with China, you cannot argue that Nixon's presence made a huge impact in what we have today.
-----> 2.)  Civil Rights work - Richard Nixon signed bills that gave women equal working rights and rights to the same pay as men got for a specific job; with these efforts, Nixon equaled out some professions, even though in some professions, dicrimination of sex is still noticeable. Nixon also started bussing kids from all black and all white schools to help integrate the schools and stop racism in the urban city areas.
-----> 3.) Environment - It was during Nixon's presidency that the Environmental Protection Angency (EPA) was established. He also signed the Clear air and Clear water acts, which helped reduce pollution in the air and regulate clear and clean water drinking regulations.

The Equal Rights Amendment.. EXCITING!

In the United States Constitution, there is nothing saying that men and women have gender equality in society. In the 1960's, many groups of women such as NOW believed that there should be equality among the genders; They called this the Equal Rights Amendment. The equal rights amendment was a great idea to the because men and women should have equal rights, and without something government issued saying this, people and businesses can discriminate against women anyway that they chose too. In the end, 38 states were needed to approve of this too pass to be an amendment, but only 35 states chose to accept it, which ruined the amendements opportunity. I personally believe that this amendment should be reviewed because it is an idea that should be put into place because this country was built on freedom and equality.

Jackie Robinson, Whata Champ!

Jackie Robinson has always been known as the athlete that broke the color barrier. he went into an all white league of baseball players and made himself stand out not just by his skin color, but also his natural athleticism at the sport. He started playing in the major league in 1947 with the Brooklyn Dodgers organization after a one year stint with there Triple A organization, where he exceled any expectations. He was harassed to extreme levels just because his skin color wasnt acceptable to the public, which is a lowpoint in american history. Robinson, along with Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. are the 3 greatest civil rights figures in American history. I personally believe that behind Martin Luther King Jr., that Jackie is the most influential civil rights activist. He changed the way people thought about the equality of different races because he proved that African Americans are just as capable as whites when it came to things such as sports. He took the harassment with pride for his skin color, which ultimately made him that much more respectable. GO JACKIE ROBINSON! your a great number 2.!

The Butter Battle Book!

At the end of the Butter Battle Book, both the Yooks and the Zooks have the Bitsy Big-Boy Boomeroo, which could destroy every yook and zook on earth. One day at 9:32 am, the Zook's sent a Bitsy Big-Boy Boomeroo towards the Yooks land, and when the yooks saw this, they set off a Bitsy Big-Boy Boomeroo to destroy Zook territory. this whole battle and doomsday scenario was all because noone could decide which way is proper to eat a piece of toast; whata damn shame

Wartime Bombing

In a time of war, countries use every oppurtunity possible to get an advantage over the opposition. This includes going after innocent civilians by attacking cities; this is not justible and is an unethical thing to do in my eyes. Many people living in cities are innocent civilians that are not playing a factor in the war, but countries still go out to harm them as if they were the ones shooting the guns and killing there people. bombing cities is a mass murder of innocent people that should not happen; this just shows how low of a point human society has reached

The great depressions effects on thinking of those effected

The depression was a time period in American society that destoried the psychological being of all of those who had to suffer. Families were forced to live closer together in more confined spaces, which took away there feeling of privacy and pride as people saw there weak side. Men suffered greatly from this despression; all of the "pride" that they have built up crashed to the ground as the money supply depleted and all the incentives they earned themselves has vanished before there eyes. All of this added stress led to problems with friendships, relationships, and marriages that made bad situations even worse than they once were. The depression ultimately changed the goals and expectations of every day citizens because people believed this was how life was going to be forever, and there is nothing they could have done to change it.
